“It was out of necessity, I didn’t want to do it but they needed a photographer,” he says. Jaxon Dansie, 17, accidentally found himself loving photography after stepping up to help out Utah Motorsports Campus (UMC) with their need of a photographer.
Jaxon always loved racing and when he began taking motorsports photos he found his future career. And on June 21, 2021, he released his own business called “Drive-By Shootings”. Two years later his photo business is successful and flourishing. Doing, “Fantastic,” he states.
When he first started he was still learning a lot about photography and still is. The first year of his business he didn’t make any money and his photos were free. But he’s had immense progression in his work since then has gone on to selling hundreds of photos monthly during the racing season.
Already he’s worked with RIOT Motorsports, Utah Sport Bike Association, Utah Motorsports Campus, and the 43 Institute in the two years Drive-By has been in business. “Working for the Blocks was life changing, like working for one of your heroes,” he says. He grew up watching them on Youtube and now to actually get to work for them and know them personally is crazy to him. Because before they were just people online that he never thought he’d meet.
He says in the future his goal is to “make it into any major league sport such as Formula 1, Supercross, and Formula Drift.” Reaching that goal is very achievable for this young start up with the way things are headed for him as long as he keeps working the way he is and moving forward in his photography career. For now he’ll continue to work alongside UMC and grow his business, always on the lookout for new opportunities with his photography.
