Every year, on the 31th night of October, thousands of Americans, dressed up as every kind of monster of fictional character, go from house to house to ask the same question: trick or treat?
Halloween has been a tradition in the United States for more than 2 centuries, and since then kids and adults have fun, taking the occasion to dress up in the most creative ways, but is it the same in the whole world?
“We don’t usually celebrate that much, we don’t dress up and we don’t go trick or treating, but we usually have a party at some friend’s house where we put on music and we have fun”, said Celia Abajo, junior and foreign exchange student from Spain.
The United States is the country that celebrates halloween the most, followed by Ireland and the United Kingdom, where Halloween is born.
Even though Halloween is a European tradition, in most countries it’s just an occasion to let little kids have fun and dress up, while their parents don’t do anything.
“Halloween is very different from here, most of the time adults dress up and go to parties” said Jun Uda, sophomore and foreign exchange student from Japan.
This shows how Halloween may be celebrated in almost every country in the world, but every culture is different.
