New season, new sports, and other than basketball the wrestling season is ready to start as best as possible.
After a whole summer of open gyms, practices have officially started on Monday, 6th of November.
More than 38 boys and 34 girls are practicing at the moment, “It’s going to be competitive this year,” said Keagan Sheffield, wrestler for GHS.
After last year’s performance, where 3 girls took first place both at divisions and State, and one of the boys won divisions and took 3rd place at State, the wrestlers are full of hope.
When asked if he has any predictions for the season he said “Hopefully we’ll make it to divisions and then State”.
Waiting for the first meet of the season, Coach Mecham, head coach of the wrestling team, is preparing the wrestlers as best as possible.
He said “I’d love to see the girls win State for the third year in a row, and having the boys in top 5 would be great”.
