During the summer, seniors in high school have a lot on their minds. As they approach the end of their high school career and prepare for a new chapter in their lives, they are faced with a variety of important decisions. These decisions include choosing a career path, deciding on a college to attend, and determining where they will live. It is a known fact that about 63% of high school graduates move on to go to college and 38% percent move on to go to get a postsecondary education.
Many seniors feel overwhelmed and stressed about making these decisions, as they understand that their choices will have a significant impact on their future. For example, Jackson Jenkins expressed his concern about making the wrong decision and how it could affect his life in the long run he said.
“I don’t want life to be boring. The choices that I make at this point will govern whether or not I go on to have an interesting life.”
Landen Payne also shared his feelings about being scared to start a new chapter he says “as an adult I feel a certain sense of pressure to choose right rather than choose wrong.”
However, there is hope for seniors. As Mr. Boden points out, “ while there are many important decisions to make, there is also a lot to look forward to.”
Seniors need to have hope and feel supported as they navigate the unknown. While it’s true that making the right decision is important, it’s also important to remember that making mistakes is a natural part of life. By learning from their mistakes and moving forward, seniors can find success and happiness in their future endeavors.
