“Overall we did great this season. I think our team has overcome a lot of obstacles and the swimmers have worked hard,” said coach Megan England.

England said, “At the district meet, students set a lot of personal records at the district meet, a few of them dropped 10 seconds or more on their events.”

Miriam Holiday, junior “Our last swim meet was regions and I would say it went really well. We have four people going to individuals. Most of our team is going to state.”

“For the last three weeks, we have had some people tapering some people not to get ready for state. For the next week we shall be tapering for state, so not using much energy so we can have enough energy to do our best at state, said Holiday.”

Girls placed second in region and boys placed 6th – one team member out due to an injury which impacts that overall ranking.

“We’d love to have an even bigger team,” said England. “Bigger teams get more points because they have either faster swimmers or more swimmers to put in each event, which helps the overall score.”

The next swim meet is the state competition at BYU on Feb. 10-11th.

“Sports require a lot of dedication and practice to reach goals and I think our swimmers are realizing that hard work pays off,” England said. “We are proud of them and the strides they have made.”
