A lot of excitement goes around the halls, with the students that can’t wait to go to the games and cheer for GHS.
“I’m really excited for the varsity games, they are usually the loudest,” said Daniel Walker, junior.
The 5 starters, Dakota Arnold, Andrew Rodriguez, Dallan Van vliet, Nick Adams and Colt Thomas, at their absolute first game of their high school career, managed to end the first, second and third quarter on the lead.
In the last quarter the scores were inverted, and within 3 minutes Wendover was on the lead by 2 points.
Coach Travis, the coach of the freshmen team, pushed the team to not give up, to attack every ball and try to steal it to be back on the lead but the Wildcats were prepared for this and managed to score another 9 points, that set the scoreboard to 37-47 for Wendover, and this was the final score.
Despite the bitter defeat the players got out of the court with a smile on their faces, because all of them are ready to get better and win as many games as possible.
Braxton Goodsell, freshmen in the basketball team said “We should have won but I feel like for our first game in high school it wasn’t that bad”
Both the Varsity and Frosh team are practicing 6 times a week, around 3 hours each day including Saturday morning to get better everyday, putting in the effort that the 6 coaches are pretending from them.
