The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Illuminating lights, tasty treats, selfless service and merry magic fill the world this time of year. Each person is different with their own traditions and favorite parts of the holiday season. Whether you are giving or receiving, enjoying the break from life or just love being with family, Christmas time is full of love and joy. 

There’s all sorts of individual Christmas customs or traditions that make the holiday special. 

Dallan Van, freshman, said, “We just go to my grandmother’s house.”

Brynlee Anderson, freshman, talked about her favorite part of the season and said, “Probably the presents.”

Another widely cherished part of the holiday season is spending time with family. 

Shara Ault, School Librarian, said, “We always go up in the mountains and cut down our Christmas tree. That’s like our first Christmas tradition of the year.” Ault also spoke about her favorite part of Christmas, she said,“Probably just being with family.” 

Dana Sinkwich, Life Skills teacher, explained a common family Christmas tradition–decorating the tree together. But her favorite part of Christmas is spending time with those she loves.

Emily Pittmin, Junior, said, “After Thanksgiving we go and get a Christmas tree.” Then she said her favorite part of the Christmas season was hanging out with friends.

Some family traditions even carry on after Christmas. 

Shana Nelson, Family and Consumer Science teacher, said, “On New Years we do Grandpa Frost, and so he comes and brings presents that go along with their Christmas presents…if they had (received) a race car track they get more race cars.”Along with her unique family traditions, Nelson has many other favorite parts of Christmas, Nelson said,“The break, and getting to be with my family.”

Family traditions, giving and receiving presents and time spent with loved ones are just some of things that make this season so special!

The Everything Girl   A girl who loves so many things she can barely keep count. Meilee Curtis does so much in her life that the list goes on a while.  Moving from Arizona, Meilee was sad to leave her home of nine years.  “But I was excited to start a new adventure in Grantsville.”   She and her family travel all over the world,  Where she gets to experience the beauty of different cultures. And enjoys seeing the many different lifestyles.   Apart from traveling, Meilee also has a variety of interests.  She loves editing new videos, Writing down different stories, Exploring different lives through books,  Or Stroking a canvas with a brush.   She’s not afraid of being in front of an audience either, Whether it’s performing a piece on the piano, Giving a speech, Shooting a soccer ball in the goal, Dribbling a basketball down the court, And serving a tennis or pickle ball over the net.   Even though she does so much in her life, She always has time to be with her family and friends.   Meilee  loves doing so much in her life that it doesn't get boring. She plans on going to college and on a mission for her church after high school. But for now, she's enjoying the beauty and opportunities of the world.
