A magic trip from the mysterious and dangerous planet of Jumanji, to the business places of Monopoly, to an intense battleship, to a coloured and sweet candy world: that’s the experience every student in GHS has had to experience walking through the hallways during the Spirit Week.
In fact it’s well known that, as a school tradition, during Spirit Week, all the classes have a hall-decorating competition.
This year all the class presidents opted for a magic world as a theme, bringing that touch of magic that’s always appreciated by the students who are now facing the last quarter of the year.
Starting from the fourth position we have the freshmen, who didn’t catch much attention from the judges since most of the posters fell down before the verdict.
The battleship theme was a good idea, but it did not work out as intended.
Nick Dutson, freshman at GHS, said, “I did not like the freshman hallway just because they all fell down before anybody could see them.”
The third place on the list was taken by the sophomores, with the Jumanji world that apparently didn’t convince the judges enough.
The second place of this competition was awarded to the seniors, that despite the big effort they put in their candy world, they could not do enough to beat the hall-decorating champions of this year: the juniors.
Kate Palmer, a junior at GHS, said, “The juniors did such a great job with the hall decorating this year, you could really tell they put so much time and effort into every single poster and it really paid off!!”.
The rich and vast monopoly world convinced the judges to assign the juniors the first place in this hard-fought competition.
Being rewarded with 1000 points really helped the juniors in the annual competition, putting them in second place with only 200 points less than the seniors.
