A crazy journey inside the walls of GHS

A magic trip from the mysterious and dangerous planet of Jumanji, to the business places of Monopoly, to an intense battleship, to a coloured and sweet candy world: that’s the experience every student in GHS has had to experience walking through the hallways during the Spirit Week.

In fact it’s well known that, as a school tradition, during Spirit Week, all the classes have a hall-decorating competition.

This year all the class presidents opted for a magic world as a theme, bringing that touch of magic that’s always appreciated by the students who are now facing the last quarter of the year.

Starting from the fourth position we have the freshmen, who didn’t catch much attention from the judges since most of the posters fell down before the verdict.

The battleship theme was a good idea, but it did not work out as intended.

Nick Dutson, freshman at GHS, said, “I did not like the freshman hallway just because they all fell down before anybody could see them.”

The third place on the list was taken by the sophomores, with the Jumanji world that apparently didn’t convince the judges enough.

The second place of this competition was awarded to the seniors, that despite the big effort they put in their candy world, they could not do enough to beat the hall-decorating champions of this year: the juniors.

Kate Palmer, a junior at GHS, said, “The juniors did such a great job with the hall decorating this year, you could really tell they put so much time and effort into every single poster and it really paid off!!”.

The rich and vast monopoly world convinced the judges to assign the juniors the first place in this hard-fought competition.

Being rewarded with 1000 points really helped the juniors in the annual competition, putting them in second place with only 200 points less than the seniors.

Massimo Ciaschetti
A new school year has came, either you are brand new to a high school or you might be returning for another year, or if your this specific student then you might have traveled the world to be able to come to America to try high school in the American view.  Massimo Ciashetti is a foreign exchange student that is from Italy. He has come to Grantsville High School all the way to Utah to try highschool in the American way and see how things are different here than it is in Italy.  He decided that he wanted to try something new and come to school here in America. When he and his family went on a family vacation to America they went to Los Angeles and visited the Grand Canyon.  After they got back Massimo was interested in coming to school here in America to try something different and he thought that it would be an amazing experience.  Him and his family found an agency that is for foreign exchange students and they got all of his information and put him on the website for any family in America to choose him to come live with them and go to school in America.  A Family in Grantsville Utah chose him to come live with them and go to school in Grantsville. I asked him, “Why did you choose to come here? There is seriously nothing here. He said, “ I was put on a website for foreign exchange students and a family here picked me and that's why I came here” He can’t choose where he gets to go. He got picked by a family and then he traveled all the way from Rome, Italy to New York to Chicago then to Salt Lake to meet his new family in America. He still has been trying to get used to everything.
