Floriculture; Flowers on Parade

Flowers, plants, and design are all pieces of art in the floriculture class.

Holly Johnson, Floriculture Teacher, said, “It allows students to gain a skill they can use later on in life. Students will become homeowners soon and it teaches how to maintain plants. I love teaching about it because everyone needs to know where their food comes from.”

Students get multiple opportunities to learn more hands-on skills. This type of skill encourages students to think outside of the box and use tools they’ll work with regularly in their chosen careers. Hands-on learning provides students real results in their work and encourages senses of exploration.

Plants improve the state of mind, an environment that includes natural elements and plants brings a positive outlook on life and boosts people into feeling more alive and active.
