Easy to Make Caramel Apples

  1. Gather your ingredients. This recipe makes about 9-10 caramel apples, so you’ll need:

granny smith apples, heavy whipping cream, light or dark brown sugar (I used dark), light corn syrup, butter, salt, and vanilla extract. You’ll also need your utensils such as a pot, a candy thermometer, wooden sticks, and a wooden spoon.

  1. Wash your apples (apples have wax on them and it may prevent the caramel from sticking) and put the stick in place of the stem.

  1. Mix together the corn syrup, brown sugar, butter, salt, and heavy whipping cream on the stove, stirring constantly until the butter is melted and the caramel’s temperature is about anywhere from 235° to 240°F.

  1. Then, pull the mixture off the heat and add the vanilla, letting it cool for 10-20 minutes or until the caramel thickens.
  1. Once it is thick enough, dip the apples in the mixture, making sure to cover all sides before placing them on a previously buttered baking sheet.

Let set for 45 minutes or enjoy immediately. Feel free to decorate with sprinkles, candy, or salt!
